I am torn of how to rate my experience with AmeriFreight. I appreciated the clarity of their website and the professionalism of the agent who contacted me before I decided to hire them, as this was something lacking in most other car shipping sites. Their A+ rating on BBB was a big draw as well. They found a carrier for my car's cross-country journey the day after I hired them, and all for the minimum price quoted, which was amazing.
However, the carrier that AmeriFreight contracted for me, Fast Freight Trucking, is rated 1 out of 5 stars on BBB. While I understand AmeriFreight is a broker, and their job is to get your car on a truck for as good a deal as they can find, I feel their website is misleading in touting their A+ BBB rating but then AmeriFreight contracts out to badly reviewed carriers. From the AmeriFreight site: "Brokers are the gatekeepers to ensure customers get reliable, dependable, and insured carriers to ship their vehicles with." I brought my concern up with my agent before my car got picked up, and she assured me they have worked with Fast Freight Trucking multiple times.
The morning that Fast Freight was scheduled to pick up my car from my residence, the driver called and said he would not be able to drive his truck to my location and asked me to meet him above the city, about 40 minute drive for me. He appreciated me doing that and kindly paid for my cab home.
The car was supposed to be delivered 10 days later. A day or two prior to that date, we attempted to contact Fast Freight at their office number in Spokane to organize drop off, and got no reply. A few days later the driver of the carrier texted my partner who was receiving the car and told him he could not bring his truck into the city, and would leave my car to be picked up and delivered by a different carrier in a city 50 miles away.
A few days later another agent from AmeriFreight called me to ask if the car was delivered. He told me they never even received confirmation it was picked up. I told him we didn't know where the car was and he said he would follow up with the carrier and try to find out for me. I did not hear back from him.
Later, my original agent asked if the car had been delivered, as she wanted to close out the account. I informed her it was still at large and that we had not been able to get in touch with the carrier. She said she'd find out, and to her credit the carrier contacted us and said the car would come that evening. We agreed on 8:30pm that night and, of course, the driver was a no-show. He did end up delivering the car the next day, and the car was in the same condition as it was when it left.
I am happy the car got to its destination in good condition, and for a good price, but I am disappointed that AmeriFreight seems to be a company that tries very hard to book customers quickly, but does not stay diligent during the shipping process. I would consider hiring AmeriFreight again, but not before looking into other options.
AmeriFreight asks for a five-star rating, but if they want one, they should hire 5-star carriers to work with their customers, and they should provide 5-star care during the entire process and not just the booking.
PS. My agent asked me to leave a 5 star review and said she only gets paid if someone leaves a review. That seems very wrong to me and AmeriFreight should be shamed for not honestly treating their workers.
