We just moved from New Mexico to Washington. We drove one vehicle but needed transport for the other. AmeriFreight's estimate was $850, and we gave them authority to negotiate for up to $1150 if needed. Other quotes I received were all from $1350 to $1600.
We were told the normal "pickup window" was 1 to 15 days after the vehicle becomes available. In our case, it took 16 days. We thought this part would be easier with Albuquerque on I-40 and I-25, thinking there would be enough traffic to the West Coast that we'd easily get a carrier. That wasn't the case. But, I think it's because of the low price. Finally, the day we were actually leaving New Mexico, AmeriFreight called and said they had a carrier for us. He picked up the car that afternoon.
Although the carrier said he would deliver the car in 3 to 6 days, it actually took 8. He may have been quicker if we had expressed the need to have the quicker, but that wasn't the case. We told him we had some flexibility and didn't have to have the car right away. He actually did call when in the area and could have delivered it at the end of day 6, but it was after 11 PM and we chose not to accept it at that time.
The car arrived with no issues or problems. If you are having a car transported and need it done quickly, you might want to pay more (although I have no experience to know whether or not that guarantees a quicker delivery). If you have some flexibility, AmeriFrieght can save you money. In our case, it saved us over $200. I would use them again. Lecia at AmeriFreight came through for us.
