When I came to the conclusion that I was going to be moving from CA to IL, I dreaded the logistical feat and costs of getting my precious vehicle out there in mid-December. Quickly, I came to the decision that it would make more sense to ship out my car.
This led me to many days of researching countless car transport companies, as price and quality of service were of the utmost importance to me as I am not only a college student, but am soon to be a newlywed. My research led me to finding AmeriFreight, and I couldn’t possibly be happier with my choice!
One of the first things, other than the excellent reviews that they have received, that caught my eye was their three different rate levels: Economy Saver Rate, Priority Preferred Rate, and Select Express Rate. Being tighter on cash, I decided that my best option would probably be using their Economy Saver Rate, even with knowing that might have to wait a while after the stated available date to be picked up. In reality, my car was actually picked up a day before its available date and arrived safely to my fiancé in IL within four days.
With price definitely being an issue in mind when choosing a carrier, I was relieved to find out that they offer discounts for those who are military personnel, police officers, fire fighters, senior citizens, and college students. Having received a $20 rebate for being a college student definitely helped me out with the costs of shipping my car.
The icing on the cake was the customer service. Having already received one quote online (which expired), I decided to call AmeriFreight on November 30th, 2012 to see about getting another quote. Graham was knowledgeable and quickly was able to give me a quote, which I decided to turn into an order. He notified me off the bat that the quoted priced (which was $695) may have to increase, which I was very understand to, as I was also requesting to have a few boxes in my trunk at the time of shipping. All I had to do from that point on was sit back and wait to hear from them about when my car would be picked up, which was a huge relieve to me as I was going through finals within the next couple of weeks. Jorge called on December 10th to notify me that they had found a driver to pick up my vehicle, although the price was going to increase to $810 (including the $20 rebate for being a college student). He said that the driver would be calling to schedule pick up the vehicle the on December 11th and that it should be arriving on the 14th.
When it came to the actually shipping of my vehicle, my only complaint was that I didn’t hear anything from the driver until 25 minutes prior to the pick-up of my vehicle on the 12th, which was a day later than when he told AmeriFreight that he would pick up the vehicle and a day earlier than my available date. My fiancé got luckier than I did, as he was notified 2 and a half hours before the car was delivered on the 15th. This, I'm quite positive, is not at the fault of AmeriFreight, as the driver is contracted from an outside company. It still meant that my car got from CA to IL in 4 days, which was still a lot faster than I would have originally expected.
The bottom line when it comes to AmeriFreight? I would definitely use them again to transport my vehicle and would absolutely recommend them to anyone in search of finding an affordable and high quality way to ship out their vehicle.
