Getting my car delivered from Pa. to Wa. has been a nightmare. A very long story, but it has taken well over 2 months and two companies before finally having it delivered. I think the whole industry must be dishonest, playing by the same rules, of quoting a price, only to tack on hundreds of dollars before they will deliver it to you.

I contracted with Amerifreight, via Graham Turner, on April 16th (after canceling with a previous company) to have my car picked up/delivered. Paid a deposit fee of $195. The quoted price for delivery was $1095. This was the "economy quote". So, no driver was found at that price. Added on additional amounts in increments of $50. After a full month had passed, and the price was now at $1395, a full $300 over quoted price, I get a calling saying a driver had finally been found, BUT an ADDITIONAL $100 would be required! Wow; after no pick up for 32 days, and price already boosted $300 over the original quote, another $100 would be needed for pick up. So, final price was $1495 ($400 over quoted cost), and a full 32 days after order was placed, car was picked up.

These car brokers are really only interested in their $195 deposit, in my opinion. They give dishonest initial quotes, drag you along for weeks, only to bump the price up hundreds of dollars before the car will be picked up. Lesson learned, I will NEVER purchase a car that needs delivering; will only buy locally, where I can pick it up in person. The industry seems to have drastically changed, as I had previously had two vehicles delivered from coast to coast - the price that was quoted was the price that it cost. A "price quote" should be just that, the amount it takes to deliver. I asked for a QUOTE, not an ESTIMATE; big difference. Just an unpleasant experience all around.

NOTE: OUR RESPONSE WILL NEVER TRY TO EXCUSE US FOR NOT DELIVERING AS PROMISED. IT IS OUR GOAL TO EXPLAIN POSSIBLE REASONS WHY WE WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE EXCEPTIONAL 5 STAR SERVICE AND HOW WE WILL TAKE POSSIBLE ACTIONS TO PREVENT THIS FROM OCCURRING AGAIN. It is regrettable that this customer was not altogether happy with our services. We know the process can become very frustrating and is often totally misunderstood. Our goal is to always be upfront and explain the whole quote and transportation procedure as best we can. AmeriFreight did all we could to get the vehicle dispatched at the lowest possible rate. We do not try to convince customers to accept an order from us by offering unreasonable rates. The economy saver rates we offer are designed as a standby rate and although many vehicles ship at that rate, we are quite explicit about the fact that they may have to add more money to the order to have the vehicle moved, or upgrade to a higher rate if they are pressed for time. The market is often quite unpredictable. The way shipping rates are calculated are by statistical data and current conditions. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused our customer and we will work harder to try to be more on target with current pricing estimates. Fortunately we seem to be very successful in our pricing efforts in offering discounted rates at exceptional customer service to the vast majority of our customers.
