I was nervous about transporting a 1973 Avanti II I purchased in Florida to my home in Tacoma,WA! I had many quotes, and I had researched until my eyes were ready to bleed!
I was debating over going for enclosed transport, but didn't want to spend the extra money. In reality, it's probably still cheaper than driving it yourself when you consider lost wages, the air fare, gas and cheap hotels. Not to mention what a nightmare it would be to break down in old car you're not familiar with in Montana!
Dave called me on a Sunday, and we talked for about 45 minutes. Genuinely nice guy. I'm a truck driver myself, so I know a little about the transportation business. Dave earned my business by being honest with me and not making promises he couldn't keep. He told me it wouild cost between $1200 and $1300 for open transport, $1750 to $1900 for enclosed. We talked of the pros and cons of enclosed transportation, truck drivers and even a little football.
Since it was 2 days until Christmas and I hadn't even paid for the car yet, I know it wouldn't happen until after Wednesday.
Dave called me on Thursday and said he had a truck ready to pick it up on Friday! It was open transport and it would cost $1300. He asked the company (B&M Transport) to take good care of my car and asked for a top load. The next day, Mike the driver picked it up and put it on top.
I was told it would probably take 7 days, and I worried that my car might leak in the all the rain and snow....
On Monday, the driver called me and told me hie was in Montana and expected to be there by Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. Wow, fast delivery! I told him I could be there all day Tuesday (New Year's) but I'd be on the road myself Wednesday morning. He called early on Tuesday and said he would alter his drop offs so he could be there that afternoon. He got here about 3, so I actually got to receive my car in the daylight! And it wasn't raining! (This IS Tacoma,WA!!)
The car was in great shape, and hardly even dirty. I talked to Dave several times during the transport and after, and he never seems bothered by it. No matter what your concern is, he's willing to help if he can.
I recommend him without reservation. Thanks again, Dave!
