It is true that the price we quoted the customer was low. This was in part due to having quoted the customer for a car, not a small pickup truck. When the order was received we informed the customer that we charge more for pickups. He opted to wait it out with the hope that we could find a trucking company to ship it at the discounted price, which obviously did not happen.
We do give a truthful idea of our pickup window, which is it’s a 2 to 4 day window, but this was affected by not charging more for a small pickup. Therefore in turn we couldn't offer a trucking company more money for the small pickup.
We did inform the customer that it would be beneficial to pay more to a trucker to accommodate it being a pickup truck. He did not want to do this. He also did not want take the car to a terminal. In the end he told us he wanted to cancel the order as he was going to drive it. We cancelled the order and refunded his money in full since we did not honor our portion of the contract of providing a trucking company within 7 days.
We wish the customer had informed us that they were contracting another company. We would have informed him to make sure the new company wasn’t just using a local towing company to facilitate immediate pickup, without actually shipping the car cross country.
