Unethical Selfish Poor Business Practices

Having arrived to Anchorage just 40 minutes prior, I was greeted by the owner and staff with some very unfortunate news. Apparently it is their policy not to take care of damages to the vehicles they ship. My 2011 GMC Terrain, which is in excellent condition (other than the noted discrepancies when I dropped it off in Kent, WA) had rubs on the rear passenger door. I was told by Doug that once I leave the lot there is no responsibility for damages. Additionally, the rubs on my SUV are considered minor by the owner and they refused to take responsibility. I was even offered wax to handle the issue myself [sic]. However, my SUV was dirty and I was not going to repair the issue myself. Even if it's in their policy to turn customers away unhappy about the condition of their vehicle, this is unethical and just bad business to proclaim that they take no responsibility for damages. I found no evidence of absolution of damages in their policies. My truck was dirty and I was unable to do a proper inspection therefore the edict that once I leave the lot, we have no liability left me in a catch 22. I even asked what if the rub was a scratched and required body work. They scoffed and I then asked them if they wanted one more opportunity to make this right. They refused. So I am writing to let you all know that “buyer beware” is alive and well at Alaska Auto LLC. You better think twice before choosing this outfit.
I also want to add that the experience with this company was great up until the time came for them to take responsibility for damages to my vehicle. Yes, I found other scratches after I washed the vehicle. I was taken aback and frankly amazed and how easy it was for the owner offered no options to repair the damage to my vehicle. She behaved this way in front of her staff and with children in the room. If you’re smart, you better ask your shipper what is their policy when there are damages to your vehicle.
