I called many transport companys to get a car from NJ to CA. Their sales pitch is pretty much the same. I checked with Better Business Bureau before doing business with ALS and there were no reports. I called to set up the transport of my sons car. It was ready to go. I was given a date of Jan 17th, it was picked up on Jan 20th. 39 days later the car was delivered to California. I was told 7 to 10 days for delivery, at a rate of $825. After many calls, insisting to speak to someone, all I got was the run around, vauge information, promises of the car being deliver in "a couple of day", rude sales men who have no interest in finding out where your car is or giving any kind of information at all. Once I spoke to the delivery man in California, I've come to find out that we are being charged $207 more than quoted. Because: your car was picked up within 5 days of the original date. What the heck does that mean??? and included in that $207 was extra fuel costs. You want to know why they do this? Because they can. This was the most horrible business transaction I've ever experienced. And, one of the tires was destroyed on this car becasue it went flat over the 39 days. Rather than fill it with air, they drove on it and shredded it. I'm sure they will not take responsibility and pay for damages. So being fully insured by them means nothing. One last point. They say the car is picked up by a car transporter, never leaves that truck and is delived by the the same person/truck. Well, it was picked up by one guy, then picked up and taken to the rail yard, the car sat there for two weeks, went to california by train and then picked up by the delivery company. So, many people drive your car, in and out and sits most of the time. Nice way to do business. Dont use them, pay more and get better service from some other company. It's worth the peace of mind.
