Discrepancies, frustration, and no pick-up

It all started out well enough...an informative website, helpful people like Monica, Rich, Stephanie and Milt to answer quetions, give estimates, and set up pick-up times. It was even ok that they didn't accept credit cards as I rushed my check in for deposit. All was going well....too well apparently.

Then it happened, the call from Peter the night before the vehicle was supposed to be shipped---"due to rising fuel prices the driver wasn't going to drive and they'll do their best to find another carrier, but due to vehicle size, location for delivery, and continuing fuel price increases it might take a few days." Well, after a week with no word, I called and spoke with the quote end people(after you have a contract, you're only supposed to talk to customer service) as I had called before customer service opened. Out of curiousity, I asked this gentleman (who shall remain unamed) if he knew anything about rising fuel prices causing transport cancellations or delays--he was completely unaware of ANY problems in the company. I then asked if they were still giving dates/time for shipping oversize vehicles accross country and he replied absolutely. HMMMM....

I did talk to Shelly in customer service later that day, she tried to be helpful and when asked how things were looking for a pickup date she said it looked to be shaping up for the end of the following week. Now, I get excited, but I'm still untrusting.....so, I have a friend call the company and ask about costs/times for a very similar pick-up and delivery location and also an oversized vehicle. He is told it will be the end of the following week for pick-up no problem as they already have a truck going that way. Now, I start to relax a little as this kind of coincides with what Shelly had told me.

I then called the Monday of the supposed "end of the week" pick-up so I could give my seller a heads-up. Apparently, I shouldn't have-XXXI speak with Peter who seemed very put out that I would actually call after not hearing anything for 11 days past my supposed original shipping date. I again asked how things were looking for shipment and he replied that mine was one of two vehicles that were a priority to ship but they had not found a carrier yet. He again cited the fuel price, vehicle size, and my not being "right off an interstate" (which is not true) as being huge factors. Also, it could still be days or weeks before they found anyone. I asked if it could be months and while he didn't think so, it was possible. (I found this amazing as my friend's vehicle had been guaranteed for pick-up that week although I did not tell Peter this.) At this point, Peter is becoming pissy and says "or you can have a refund. " I was surprised and said " I can have a refund?" he snapped back at me "yes, I told you that when I talked to you on the 20th!" I replied "actually, you didn't." He then snapped "is that what you want then?!" Now, I'm mad for being treated like this so I say "yes, I would." He asked if I wanted it sent to my home address and after barely getting out "yes", he hung up on me!

Now, for a company that claims to be all about service....well, you can draw your own conclusions. I work in a very customer oriented business and people like Peter have no place in customer service. I was not nagging, bitchy, or giving anyone a hard time---simply wondering how things were looking. I will say that I did get my deposit refunded so thanks for that....but for wasting 4 weeks of my time your company sucks!
