DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - EVER

We were looking to ship a car from San Diego to Bozeman, MT. After contacting a number of companies, AAA came back with a great price - $549. We faxed over the order form along with $199 deposit - which, by the way, was never explained as non-refundable, nor does the order form state that. I was told pickup would be in 1-5 business days. The car would most likely arrive in 7-10 days. Up to this point, Paul was quite pleasant and quite helpful. On business day 6, I called inquiring as to the status of the car and was told they hadn't heard anything yet, as they were a broker and not the actual transport company. This was the first I'd heard that - in fact, if you check their website, there is no mention of it there either. I was headed up to Montana on vacation at that point and called periodically to get updates - no change, just a terse "we'll call you when something changes". Finally, three weeks+ later, the dealership calls asking when the car is going to be picked up and asks for AAA's phone number. They call back a few minutes later and comment that in 30+ years of doing business, they've never come across anyone as rude as Paul and can't believe AAA is still in business. When I call Paul, the story changes to "thousands of cars are leaving California and nobody goes to Montana. You'll be lucky to find a truck." Still no estimate on how long we'll be waiting. I ask to cancel and have my deposit refunded, as by this time I've contacted a reputable company who actually delivers vehicles, and has given me pickup and dropoff dates (for about $200 more). Of course, now I'm told there will be no refund and Paul starts yelling. The guy is a complete A-Hole. We've filed papers w/ the CA Attorney General and are now considering small claims court. AAA's business model must be built upon extracting deposits. I find it hard to believe they actually get any cars shipped.
