After getting about 5 quotes over the internet to move a Lexus RX from TX to NJ, I researched many and found on the BBB site that many were 3-8 months old so no real track record to go with their quotes that were $650. I also had a couple of quotes in the $750 to $850 range and another that was $1005 for the same move. Several had reviews that went from great to terrible here. I ended up searching for a company that had a multi-year good review rating and a good BBB rating and then asked for a quote via the internet from them - this was A To Z Auto Shipping. The quote request went in Friday night. They are a M-F office operation on CA time so being impartient, I called them on their Monday morning to move the quote along. They offered a quote of $850 with $150 up front and the rest COD which I took another 24 hours to think about. This was not the least expensive quote nor the most expensive by after examining all I could find on BBB and multiple review sites, I decided to accept it. I called Tuesday AM after faxing back the signed paperwork and gave them a credit card number for the up front money. They called back about 4-5 hours later the same day saying they had a truck to pick it up in 24-48 hours. They also said the up front money was $250 but the total stayed the same so less due COD - I'm not sure what that was about (maybe the trucking company wanted more up front or maybe it was a simple typo at the start of the quote - I don't know) - I had two separate charges on the card - $150 + $100. Anyway, the car was actually picked up in TX 24 hours after I had faxed in the signed paperwork. The pickup location was within 2 miles of the house. I am told that the truckers (two) were very careful about loading the vehicle. Initial report from the drivers I got back was that vehicle might arrive in NJ 3-4 days later. I called on the Friday after pickup and was told Monday or Tuesday instead of Sat/Sun which was fine with me as I had a Sunday committment. The trucking company called on Monday afternoon looking for the final address for delivery (some confusion over real town versus post office town name) and the vehicle showed up around 4pm at my front curb just over 5 days after the pickup and less than 7 days after accepting the quote. The vehicle was dirty - as expected with an open carrier going 1800+ miles but cleaned up fine. There were absolutely no new scratches or dings or chips that I could find on the entire vehicle after washing it by hand that evening. I have to say that I was greatly impressed by the speed with which A To Z Auto Shipping was able to arrange for pickup. Lola was the contact person I worked with. The Friday call to check on the expected delivery date was with Barry. Both were very courteous and professional. The actual trucking company was JMN Transportation out of Philidelphia and they also did a superb job getting the vehicle transported with no damage. They accepted cash on delivery (there was some confusion on my part because the bill of lading on the front said "cash, money order, or cashiers check" but the fine print on the back said cashiers check only with ominous language about storing at customers expense if not cachiers check). All in all - this was a very good shipment of my vehicle. It amazes me that one can ship a car that weighs ~2500 lbs a bit over 1800 miles for this price - it you try to ship the equivelent weight via other "mail" carriers, it is dramtically more expensive and it would not have gotten there any sooner. As you can tell, I am a satisfied customer of A To Z Auto Shipping.
