Cross-country car shipping, car damaged

We chose AA Auto Transport to ship our car from Massachusetts to California when we moved in June 2013. We found the individual with whom we arranged the shipment (Ashley) to be professional and the car was picked up on time. It was also delivered on time; the individual who delivered it to us in California drove it across town from Oakland to San Francisco. He had us sign the forms indicating that our car was in good condition before he left. Several moments after he drove away, we noticed significant front bumper damage to the car that we hadn't seen during the inspection moments before. While we acknowledge that neglecting to see this immediately was our own fault, it doesn't change the fact that somewhere between Massachusetts and California, AA Auto Transport damaged our car to the tune of $900 dollars (we have gotten several estimates). We called the guy who drove our car over from Oakland (maybe the damaged happened on his way over, when he was driving it versus when it was on the truck? we can only speculate) and he said he had no idea how it happened but since we had signed the papers there was nothing he could do to help us. Car damage was certainly not how we wanted to start our lives in our new state; I would avoid AA Auto Transport and deal instead with a more reputable business.
