I was inindated with no less than 30 emails and 20 phone calls. 5 Star Nationwide and Gilbert was probobly somewhere in the middle. I had heard all the lines of why the other "BROKERS" were the best, but Gilbert opened up the conversation with "if you do nothing else, keep these few things in mind, before you make a decision". 1) Check www.transportreviews.com, 2) Check the Better Business Bureau, 3) Most important, do not give anyone any money up front.Al of this was unbelievably sound advice.
I found Gilberts suggestions, a little odd at first, until I really got into researching the move. You see it wasn't for me but for my son, who is in the Navy, and just returned from serving in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Getting information and researching his 1995 Eagle Talon TSI automobile move from PA to his base in Gulfport, MS. was exhausting. The first two days I can literally tell you I had a migrane for most of the time dealing with the brokers, emails, lies and decite.
The liars, scammers and bullcrap in the emails and phone calls were unbelievable. I had rates from $399 to $925. Thats just not right PEOPLE! My mother told me I was born at night, but not last night! After further investigation on this great website call Transport Reviews, and a little common sense, it was easy to wean out the good from the bad. The low ball bidders I knew my car was never going to be picked up for that price, the expensive one wanted me to drive it 2 hours to NJ and then my son to drive 3 hours in MS to pick it up. I narrowed it down to 6 companies. They were all in the $600-$700 range.
At that point I picked Gilbert, over the rest. Was he the cheapest, no, but you won't find anyone else that is more honest, or will work harder for you, comunicate with you, and generally care about you more than he will. We had one bump in the road, which turned out to be my unavailability to be around the day that the pick-up was originally scheduled with Adelph's Trucking. Let me tell you though, I recevied calls, which Adelph's didn't have to make, from David, Adelph's driver and Lori, Adelph's dispatcher, after it was already cancelled, trying to work with me to get this move made. For that I am greatful to both of them for going the extra mile.
I was at that point going to say "to hell with it" I'm going to drive it down myself. Then Gilbert contacted me again and asked if I still wanted it moved. This was Tuesday, my deadline day. I said yes but it had to be done by Thursday. He said someone from Jones Motor Group would pick it up on Wednesday Morning. Not 15 minutes later, I was on the phone with Jim Lewis, the driver from Jones Motor Group and we set up a meet time.
Jim met me at 10:00 am Wedensday loaded the car, and was on his way by 11:00. We filled out the paperwork, we documented things like mileage, damage and payment method. The agreed upon date for delivery with Gilbert was Saturday, but when Jim said his goodbye's he said sometime early Friday.
Well I hope you are all sitting down, because Jim was in constant contact with my son, 10 hours before arrival, 5 hours before arrival and then an hour before he arrived on THURSDAY night at 8PM. Thursday night at 8 PM people, Unbelievable that's 33 hours after it was picked up. And believe me my son was more than happy to get his car at that time. No new scratches or dents, nothing missing inside, and it wans't any more worse for the wear.
To Gilbert and 5 Star Nationwide as my Broker, to Jim Lewis and Jones Motor Group and even David and Lori of Adelfs Trucking, THANK YOU. This business you are in, is like dealing with car salesman and lawyers, but all of you should be very proud of yourselves, you are, and if I can steal some words from Frank Sinatra, KING OF THE HILL, TOP OF THE HEAP, HEAD OF THE LIST, CREAM OF THE CROP and A#1. Thank you all for everything.
I will have no problem in the future recommending your comapnies and giving you the highest recommendation that I can, and yes that would be.......... 5 STARS.........
